Is there a limit to the number of faster payments per day?

Hey all

Is there a limit to the number of faster payments that will go through an account in one day?

I have an A&L Premier Account and have a monthly SO for £500 to go to my HSBC account. But this takes up to 5 workings days to be credited.

So I wonder if I could do 5 x £100 payments to get it there in the same day?

Or would this flag up as suspicious?

£100 is a very low limit for faster payments, are you sure that's the limit?

Yep thats the limit, managed £110 once but think that was sheer luck

The last time I tried you couldn't send multiple payments to the same account on the same day. I send £500 from Barclays to A&L instantly then from A&L £250 to Barclays and £250 to NatWest then from NatWest back to Barclays. This satisfies the £500 rule to avoid the £5 fee but the money is back at Barclays in 3 minutes flat. (I stooze my A&L overdraft).

Surely not? Earlier this week I transferred £600 and £200, on Tues and Weds respectively, from Nat West to Coventry B. S.
Or is the £100 limit for A& L?

A&L have a 250 limit on FP at the moment. Theoretical maximum is 10k, but most banks haven't fully implemented the system yet. Halifax told me that up to £500 may be sent per payment as an FP from Halifax current

A&L seem to only allow £100 at the moment. I will try £250 next time to see if that works though.

Yes Halifax do have a £500. limit, however I have sent multiples,(2) totaling more than £500. the same day, on Wednesday this week I sent a £500. then a £200. payment to Coventry BS within 5 minutes of each other, both arrived about 2 hours later at the Coventry.
Not sure how many multiples it would allow as I have not tried more than 2.

Impressed you managed to send with halifax - they've been telling me for every day last week that my payments can't go FP, no matter what the size I've tried!

standing orders from A and L don't presently go as faster payments, they still go as BACS.
