This might be a silly question, but when applying for new Credit Cards online, you have to state your Salary details etc - do they actually check this? If so, how? Do they ring your employer?

Very very rarely. But what you have to understand is that there is a credit reference agency called Hunter which collated info from your applications. If there is a big jump in your salary or other changes this will be flagged up to the credit issuer.0
