After some over enthusiastic paying off of my store card ( £172.70 to Comet - we now own our washing machine, cooker & TV outright at last and account has been closed down!! :j ) we have £96 to live on until DH gets paid on 12th Feb and this needs to pay for petrol, bus fares and groceries.
My aims this week are to:
1. Go through the fridge/freezer/cupboards to see what ingredients I have and plan food menus around them for the next 10 days. Aim to spend no more than £40 on food until the 12th.
2. Review House & Contents Insurance which is due at the end of the month - got a fantastic deal last year so am curious to see if that can be beaten.
3. Start the hunt for a new 0% BT credit card as current one ends in May
4. Collect at least 2 more £2 coins for the piggy bank!!

great to see what you guys are managing to save on food: i'm being a bit harsh with myself and allowing 40 pounds total per week for food AND fun, and i've managed it for two weeks so far. If you plan your meals and do the shop in one go it's so much cheaper.
Also playing a lot of board games(!) and making FULL use of my online unlimited DVD rental, while persuading myself it's great to miss all the new releases at the cinema cus then we'll have more (free!) dvd choices in a few months' time! It may cost a monthly subscription, but stops you spending on doing things cus you're bored!
Today's top tip: ferret around and see if you've got any old foreign currency lying around. Found 20 euros and 20 canadian dollars this week, which magically turned into 20-odd quid thanks to the chap at the post office. That's half a week's budget! :T

Hi all - Thanks for the great encouragement - looking at how well you are all doing it gives me a great incentive to try harder! Themaccas - I'm interested to know how you calculate the date when you will be debt-free - how do you use this 'snowball' you mention?
Goals of the Day
1. Negotiate a new deal on house insurance - I already tried this & filled in all the forms on-line as recommended by MSE. 'Guessed' at re-building cost of house (VASTLY overestimated, as DH pointed out - we actually would already OWN the land) & only got one quote that was double our current one. A few mins later the phone rang - it was the one ins company who quoted. The lady laughed as she pointed out my mistakeOK, time to get it right!
2. Research/Call Egg as recommended by NMS
3. Relist ebay item (removed for 'keyword spamming - doh!' Don't mind but wish they would treat everyone the same!
4. Get bike mended so I can use it to ride to shops instead of car = save petrol money & get fit!!
good luck everyone & keep on keeping on....New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . Long haul DFW #145 : 2011 DEBTBUSTING : £5500 OD GONE, £2000 OD - GONE £93,610.30 cc & loan debt - GONE 27.6.14 FINALLY DEBT & MORTGAGE FREE :happyhear0
