I'm receiving Income Support but it has now changed so that the child element is now called child tax credit, apparently it's the same amount but it appeared that I have been paid twice this week, although I received a letter from the inland revenue today and accordingly to them it is the correct amount

When your claim is processed you will usually get a one off payment to cover any backdated entitlement. Then your payments will start to be paid at a regular amount.
Your award notice will give the full details of your payment schedule and if you have any problems understanding the award you can call the helpline.0
