Bank charges - Divorcing Couple

Hi,

Ex and I separated 18 months ago, just as I was putting in a claim for reclaiming bank charges. We are getting divorced shortly and want to go our separate ways in everything, however we have kept our joint account open (with a £1 in it) as we were hoping to get the charges back.

They amount to around £1500 so we don't want to close the account and be left out if the OFT rule in the consumers favour. What are the chances of our bank looking kindly on us?

I know we're not the typical hardship case, but neither of us want to be tied to the other with a bank account, but £750 each is too much to leave behind.

Any views or thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Jess
