War pension

Options
Hi

Advice please, my Grandad passed away suddenly last week

He has left a will

He had been getting a War Pension, will this now stop, my Nan and him were not married

Also they have decided not to get a solictior as he has chosedn who is executors of his will were before and we have been told by them that they dont see why they should pay out unecessary fees when they have it in front of them, fair enough, however one question that desperately needs an answer

My grandads bank account!! if they are not using a Solictior how can these be frozen?? so that the daughter and partner cannot keep taking all of there money out of his account or can they do this as they are not using a Solicitor??

My Grandad told them to stop taking his money before he passed away so you can see the urgency in what we can do or what can be done

Thank to anyone who can help
I love a Bargain

The veterans agency may still be able to pay her a pension if she lived her
    partner as husband and wife.

Give them a ring, they are very helpful and may be able to tell you more.

  • with regards to the bank accounts once the bank have been notified of the death and are in recipt of the death certificate or the interim certificate then the accounts are automatically frozen. power or attorney ceases on death however if the bank have not been notified then there is nothing that they can do to stop the poa taking money out the account. it is fraud if the poa continues to access the deceased's accounts and can actually be prosectued by the police for this.

sorry for your loss and hope that you resolve everything without any major heartache
