Tesco delivery- do I have a complaint here?

Today me and the bf got a large Tesco delivery. We get them every month or so and they come to about £75 (I always use my tenner off code though ;) )

Anyway, we live in an apartment block in the city centre of leeds, which requires a 2 minute walk from the road to the entrance.

Tesco's delivery guy parked right at the end of our road, then phoned us in the apartment to say meet me downstairs. We went right to the van, expecting him to put all the crates on a wheely thing or at least help us carry them. But he said he had to go, he was double parked (he wasn't, everyone else was parked there no problems), and proceeded to pull out into the middle of the road, thus causing an obstruction, and about 5 angry neighbours beeping their horns. He then placed the crates on the pavement....and drove off! He didn't even leave us with a wheely thing.

Now, since I can carry only 1 crate, it left me standing on the side of the road for about 10 minutes whilst my bf carried the heavy crates, then we both carried the last ones to the flat. They were very heavy, and left us in pain. We're also left with 6 crates stuck in the apartment which we have no room or need for. So now we have to call Tesco to come and take them away (and we don't get home from work until 8.30pm).

Worst of all, one of our neighbours was getting a Sainsbury's delivery. The driver parked up fine and wheeled all the goods to their door! The delivery guy even commented 'you've gone with the wrong shop!'

  • I am sorry to hear your problems with tesco delivery driver.
    Yes you should complain.
tesco delivery sucks, and their customer services are really bad too :wall:
Sainsburys deliverys are always on time and packed nicely too.
    good luck .
  • Write/Email Tesco and don't forget to include the comment that was made by the Sainsbury's driver. That will ram it home!

Ring Tescos and tell them. they've told me in the past that the delivery charge is to the door so you'll get it refunded. Also tell them that unless they collect the crates at a time specified by you then you'll charge them storage.

you probably had the same delivery driver as me, I'm in Leeds and had the same. "I'm not fuc***g bringing them up stairs". Fine, see how you like being on the dole then when I ring your boss :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I'm calling Tesco's to complain! - we had our property owners over today and the place had to be spotless - we had to dump the crates outside and Tesco's can whistle for them! Not too worried, since our neighbours have had 7 crates for about 2 months now. I'll keep you all posted :)
