junk mail gets recycled/shredded when the pile gets too big and the same with the filing. I probably end up doing it about 2-3 times a year LOL!

LOL - Same here CQ. If you were to look on the surface it seems that I am VERY well organised.re.paperwork. I have a 2 drawer filing cabinet (an uninspiring anniversary gift from MIL) stuffed full of organised suspension files for everything tv lisence/pensions/payslips/bank statements/cc's/kids saving plans/h&c insurance etc etc etc.

However, delvejust a teency bit deeper and you find PILE UPON PILE of paperwork crammed into any spare space. It generally builds up and gets done every 6 months or so :o

    Oh I can so relate!

My OH knows to keep clear when you can't see the living room floor for piles of paperwork. Its safer for him that way. Just thinking, when he moves in he can take it over and relieve me of it all. Yay!

One thing thats helped cut down on it all is closing accounts! closed 3 last month (Credit card, mail order, and misc) and already the post is down.

Might take note of what one of the prev posters said and sign up for online with a few of them, so i don't get all these blessed letters through.

I was going to sign up with the mps, but doesn't it stop ALL unaddressed mail, eg inc mail from the government?

I made a start last night - went through all the stuff on the window sill and next to my side of the bed, lots of recycling and shredding, some stuff filed, and some stuff "to deal with".

I am determined to try and keep on top of it all :j

On the flylady website they sell an organiser. I am not suggesting anybody buys that one as it is probably overpriced but looks a good idea. The principle is that you find some kind of zip up folder and you keep cheque book envelopes stamps pen calculator etc in it then as your bills come pop them in this until you have time then every wk go through it and you have everything to hand to pay and organise bills I suppose you would then put them straight in a consertina file as others have suggested. Flylady calls it a mobile office that you can take anywhere with you and even may be able to do on the train, in waiting rooms etc etc???

This is the best darn folder ever! It's got 26 compartments, clean plastic, looks nice and it can fit loads and loads of stuff! Even I was surprised by how much.

Tesco did have another one which was a bit cheaper but it it looked naff and had the inserts already written on oh and its made out of that cardboard that makes my teeth go "ooeeffff"

CurryQueen, I throughly recommend this was I see you weren't sure which one to get!

Additionally with this one, I can stick all the envelopes I haven't had time to go through yet and take the whole thign with me to work as its quitet compact and sort it all out when its quiet!

ALso it's a bit addictive, I'm been looking around the house for things to file!

i use a file from asda which keeps everything and tidy and its nice and easy to find bills when you need them.................
  • Can anyone suggest a good place to get a metal upright filing cabinet (3 drawer maybe?). My expanding/concertina folder is full to overflowing, as is my husbands and we need to upgrade storage for bills, statements, manuals/warrenties etc as currently it is a struggle to find things and then squish them into the poor concertina again.
