Hello katylou.
Don't blame you at all for not staying in a job that gets you down. There will be a 'right' job' out there for you somewhere!
I would agree with you about the benefits..or the lack of them! I think you have to be either rich or poor in this country! For those of us in the mid range I feel that life is really tough! I earn £13000, before tax, a year (if I'm lucky), and have to run a house with no benefits or tax credit entitlement. It's tough, but would be even tougher without the help and advice from this amazing site and its posters!:T
A small tip which may or may not help you! Invest in some hair clippers like these and cut your husband and sons' hair yourself! In a couple of months it will have paid for itself. It's very easy to use!

redlady I have used a few different types. Only real difference is the smell and some dissolve better than others.
Some people add a bit of stain remover (Vanish or other) to the mix too.
Can also add a bit of washing up liquids if you want bubbles as you don't get any with this.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Washing soda is soda crystals - you should be able to get it in your local supermarket. It's in a green bag, and should be in the washing powder aisle.0 -

Where do you buy baby powder fragrance, please? Is it like an essential oil or something? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Cuddles for the laundry liquid recipe.
It's amazing how things turn up on this site just when I need them. I was wondering what to do with several bars of soap I bought ages ago. I already have borax and soda, so this will be a no-spend.Sealed Pot challenge 2011 member 1051 - aiming for £365

Hubby has taken to doing this, he has always had clippers for trimming "bits and pieces" but when his cheapie ones broke the other day, Boots had a sale on so I bought him some reduced babyliss ones that came with different guards etc. He's now cutting his own hair and making a really good job of it! Getting to a barber around by us is really long winded and requires an appointment so he's DIY'ing! Plus he reckons the pet shop sell the same model for dog trimming so it looks like she might get a number 3 all over as well come the summer!Piglet

I secon tori.k and the credit union. I have used ours for years and it has helped me over many a crisis. They are particularly good for small loans for things like that washing machine as the interest rates are low, and you usually only have to be saving for a few months before they will lend to you. Usually the loan amount is about 3 - 4 time savings total. Ours can take savings directly from wages so when you get used to it you don't notice you are saving at all.
Now my OH is out of work and we have just found out that the mortgage insurance won't pay anything out until mid April:eek: (from Feb 1st) I am so glad that emergency fun is there waiting.0
