Well for me and the two cats....£35 a fortnight (and my bf 2 nights per week)
Only thing I top up on is bread as I don't drink a lot of milk & freeze veg. I don't eat a massive amount of meat (only chicken, sausages & mince really) but I find it easy to stick to this amount for the food that I like.

  • there are five of us two adults and a 13, 15 and 17 year old plus my other son who is at uni comes back some weekends I am trying to spend no more than £160 a month at the mo and its going well( although went crazy at xmas) I batch cook once a fortnight on my day off( if you can call it that) and make spag bol /shepherds pies/ veg chiilis /lasagnes / currys and freeze them. i get a huge sack of potatoes that lasts a fortnight for £2 and I freeze reduced items on mass so if I go and there are whoopsied bits at the end of the day I buy it .If fruit is going off I stew it with cinnamon and make crumbles I make flapjacks for treats and even buy whoopsied yogs and freeze them to save money as my lot love eating them frozen. I buy meat when reduced and if i get a big joint on offer we cut it into smaller portions and make a stew etc. We eat really well much better than a few years ago when I spent a fortune we do not waste anything and no one is ever hungry.I buy better quality things than I used too aswell so i might buy really good quality sausgaes and then split them open to make smaller sausage balls that go further I buy best quality mince and bulk it out with carrot lentils etc. It is amazing what brill meals you can make with a few items and a bit of inspiration.

for 2 adults we have a figure of £200 to spend in the supermarkets - but this includes petrol, cigarettes, alcohol, toiletries, household goods etc - so maybe £100 a month on food? That works out to be £12.50 each a week.

hi everyone, in our family we are trying to spend no more than 200 pounds every 4 weeks ,thats for me and dh,2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 cockatiels plus wild birds in garden.we include bus fares and all household spending in this except for special occasions and presents etc.but no bills or fuel costs.
neither of us smoke or drink but we do buy treats for grandson out of this plus things for garden and decora
ting if small amounts, if its something large we save up for it, we are on benefits. in january we were 92 pence under budget hope to do even better this next 4 week period.
