Do you have space under the bed or on top of wardrobes where you could store tins, loo rolls, dry goods etc rather than in the kitchen? You could then make use of some bulk buys which may work out cheaper for you.

I've just started buying our cat food at zooplus - our 3 get through lots so any saving is worth having. Ours are on porta21 sensible which is a high protein, grain free dry food that costs loads less online than the premium brands in the sm.

And ouch at £350 a year on honey!! Homebargains had big jars of honey for £1.50 today :)

What kind of meals do you have if you don't mind me asking? :o

I genuinely want to be more MSE this year & will need all the help I can get. :o

Roasts, Indian meals, home made pies, salads, stews, and lots of BBQ's in the summer, just the usual.

By the way that weekly amount is exactly 10p more than the year before so
I don't see any big inflation in our shops.

Between here and food&grocery board there are sooo many posts asking people how much they spend on a normal weeks shop and how many people in their house. I thought it would be good to start a thread to record exactly how much people have spent each week.

It would be helpful if you could include where you purchaced the food, how many people / pets its for, if it includes cleaning products or other, how long you plan for it to last, how many meals it will be used for ie breakfast/lunch/dinner and if later in the week/month you buy a topup shop please update. It would just be good to have a more accurate post to look back on and refer curious posters to :)

    Anyone want to join in?

    I'll start ...

I spent £84.39 between 4 shops - tesco main, asda small, wilkinsons for napisan and local shop for eggs.

It should last my husband I and cat for 7 days and includes 2 bottles of wine, breakfast, lunch and dinner Sat& Sun, dinner all week for us both, lunch all week for OH and breakfast all week for me.

Edit: This figure also included 2 tesco sandwhich deals which we ate after shopping for lunch. This was a big shop for us but don't plan on spending any money at all during the week which can mount up.

To feed 1 adult, 1 13yr old boy and 1 8 yr old boy, and 1 cat my budget is £55 a week.
This includes all food, drinks, cleaning stuff, cat food.
I shop at Lidl for nearly everything, and what i cant get at Lidl, i get at Morrisons.

This will do all breakfasts (porridge, muffins, pancakes, beans/egg/tomatoes on toast, cereal, pancakes, bagels); Lunches (sandwiches, baked potatoes, pasta salads, wraps, on toasts, pitta breads), and dinners (roast-with trimmings, stirfry with prawn crackers, curry with nann bread, pasta meal, HM pizza and salad, kedgeree), as well as drinks (OJ, AJ, high juice, milk, tea, coffee, hot choc.)

It will last from Yesterday (Friday) to Thursday :)

This week in Aldi I spent £65, and this fed 2 adults, 5yo and 3yo (and a 6 week old baby, but she's breastfed so doesn't really count!) for 7 days. This includes all cleaning stuff and nappies. We have a decent store cupboard already of herbs/spices etc but I keep it well topped up. It includes lunches for me and one child, the other has school dinners (4 days) @ £8, and a packup on the 5th day. Hubby wil take leftovers 3/4 days a week and buys food out of his personal spends if he doesn't want to make his sandwiches. We make our own bread mostly.

£32 something in aldi for 2 adults 1 teen 1 child. All meals in packed lunches for 3/ 1 at home.

Included stocking up on pork mince on offer for the freezer as well as all the fresh stuff for the week. No booze this week and didn't need any cleaning stuff. Will need to pop to B&m/ HB for dishwash tabs sometime this week - if I find a good deal I'll by enough for a few months so could end up spending £20 or might just be £5 on a box!

This week for 2 adults and 3 kids i spent £55.08.

£4 of this went to school for snack money.

£10 went on general items like milk, bread and fruit in asda

£44 went on a tesco shop because they sent me a code and was pretty much all used on stocked up on tinned and dry items.

We don't buy any alcohol anyway but i did get 16 tins of diet coke and 8tins of normal coke in my tesco shop because they were half price :)

Great idea for a new thread.

This week I spent £101.37 in Morrisons yesterday as I was out of everything and needed to stock up so got lots of meat and stocked up on bread etc for the freezer, this should do a fortnight although I will still have to get more fruit and salad stuff, milk and possibly extra bread during that time so have budgeted another £30.00 for top ups over the next two weeks.

This is for Me, OH and 2 boys aged 7 and 11 and a cat and included toilet rolls, shampoo, toothpaste,
