Lycos Closing Down Email Accounts

Hi

I have my email address with lycos but they will not be running the service after 15th February.

1) Please could anyone recommend a decent email provider?

2) Does anyone know of a way to let people know as I have around 70 emails a day, mostly telling me of sale events, offers etc but also personal?

I have found Google mail to be good, better than Lycos IMO as the spam catcher is great

I found Hotmail to be good and reliable. You can collect all your Lycos detail into folders and then pull them into your contacts. From there you can send out the info to all your contacts in one go. Remember to use the BCC tabs when sending to multiple contacts.

Lycos.com and the Tripod, !!!!!! and Lycos mail services based in the USA are NOT shutting down. If you have an account at Lycos.com, Tripod.com, !!!!!!.com or Mail.Lycos.com, your free and/or paid sites are fine and will remain in proper working order.

The reports and rumors that you are hearing about an impending shutdown concern Lycos.co.uk and their European services such as Lycos Mail UK (@lycos.co.uk) and the Tripod UK hosting. It is Lycos.co.uk that has announced their shutdown. The UK company licensed the Lycos/Tripod name and some technology years ago, but has NOTHING to do with the original/core Lycos and/or Tripod services that are run here in the USA.

Lycos.com and the Tripod, !!!!!! and Lycos mail services are not going anywhere. In fact, the Tripod team has been working hard to get out some exciting new features and upgrades. These new features are currently in Alpha testing. We hope to have something for you to see in late February or early March.

Lycos Domains and the domains you may have bought through Tripod or !!!!!! are fine there as well with new stuff coming soon.

If you happen to have a site on Tripod UK that's getting shutdown, feel free to FTP-down your contents from that site, save them to your desktop, and then upload them to your Tripod.com site here. While we don't necessarily support all of the same technologies as the UK version currently, just sit tight and know that we are working on it.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank those of you in the USA for your ongoing support of Tripod and Lycos as well as a thanks to those of you who support us globally from across the World Wide Web as well!
