You are all right and it was an interesting programme. Also, there are usually more than one company working on each claim and if you don't sign quickly then another company could jump in!
  • I have relations who have received letters from Heir Hunters and we have enough family tree information to possibly trace the deceased intestate person, who would have been a cousin of a late greatgrandmother. Does anyone know if there would be a list of people who died in the last two years in Northern Ireland? The Heir Hunters are seeking one third of the estate, after all legal costs, searches etc. are deducted, plus VAT. They deserve payment, but not almost half an estate. I agree with the lady who reckoned 10% as a more reasonable fee. Mary from Belfast.
  • Alan I don't know about Northern Ireland but in England and Wales the death registrations are only online up to 2005.
If you google GRONI ( General Registrar Office Northern Ireland) you should be able to find some information.
In England and Wales the information about unclaimed estates comes from the Treasury Solicitors.
This is their website and it does mention who deals with Northern Irish estates.

Instead of saying no, why don't you contact the company and try to negotiate the commission with them. Especially if you really do have the missing contact information that they need. You never know, 25% may just be their starting point.
