Cancellation - Insurance

I wanted some advice please.

I have an insurance policy. Pay monthly. I have been with them of years. Policy renewed every November. But after years of apathy have decided I can no longer afford this policy and want to cancel!

Unfortunately none of the documentation I still have mention’s anything about a cancellation policy or if there is a charge! Their website says that you can cancel at anytime but need to fill in a form. I do not want to be completely unprepared before I ring?

a) Is there any generic guidance (booklets) on my rights to cancel
b) If they did charge what would it cost me?
c) Should I automatically send any correspondence by registered post

Sorry with the basic questions

No. The product T&Cs cover it.
    b) If they did charge what would it cost me?

Depends on the insurance and provider.
    c) Should I automatically send any correspondence by registered post

If you feel Royal Mail are not up to deliverying the post correctly then yes. I say that with a bit of sarcasm but I get about 4 misdelivered envelopes in my post each week so you may have a point!

I would send any important post by recorded delivery (about 70p or 75p).
I don't think registered exists these days.

I have had very good service from royal mail, but I don't doubt that companies "lose" lots of cancellation letters purposely.
I may be cynical but it's amazong how there seem to be differences in way certain letters are recived or lost e.g. payments never seem to be lost but cancellations have a much higher rate.

Recorded delivery will prove it's been received rather than just posted and could save you the premium for a month or two.

If you jsut have questions then it's much quicker to call.
