£75 charge from HSBC

Hey there, quick thing: when you are purchasing things with your debit or credit card, it can take up to 6 months (agreement between banks and companies), that the money is leaving your account (which is ridiculous on its own).
Transactions I have made in October 2008 gone through authorized in December 2008 while I was not even in the U.K. Through those late transactions, I went overdrawn and HSBC will charge me £75, which I think is disgraceful. I have managed already that they will take £30 off. But, to be absolutely fair, I do not want to pay £45. I don't have an overdraft limit. Is there any way to claim it back?
Thank you. Help is much appreciated.
