For your description, there would appear to be no problem adding your boyfriend to the mortgage. In fact, it is likely to 'fast track' and therefore can be self certified. However, as you have pointed out, if necessary, he could prove his income - so no problem there.

You need to understand that Abbey will be less at risk by adding your boyfriend onto the mortgage, as, there will be two people to go after should the mortgage not be paid (to put it bluntly).

The cost is £140 to Abbey plus solicitor costs - likely to be between £250 and £400.

Jily2002......Do Abbey not adhere to money laundering rules, do they fast track new applicants to an existing mortgage where the outstanding balance is being reduced by 50k from an applicant who has no source of income etc......mmm interesting!

OMG, do you ever stop! Are you trying to suggest that he cant prove the source of funds for the 50k he will be putting towards the mortgage. Try part of an inheritance..... You are very narrow minded.

    What next?

Thanks Jill2002, this is the kind of help I'm after.

Without knowing the full facts - that is very hard to answer, but I do know that there would be no problem adding him to the mortgage for the reasons stated.

I'm sure that any deposit that large would be subject to internal fraud checks and he, of course, would have to provide identification as per Anti Money Laundering Regulations. There would also be credit referencing checks which he would also have to pass. But from the facts above, it is not possible to determine any problems.

Sorry, I am a 'glass half full' person not a 'glass half empty' whilst using the available facts.

You are right of course, that the OP would be far better to ask these questions of Abbey directly, as the majority of people on this forum that are qualified to give Mortgage Advice and have mortgage knowledge are in fact Brokers. Brokers would not normally deal with questions of this sort and would direct the customer to the lender directly.

jill2002......NOBODY is qualified to give advice in these forums regardess of qualifications............I know people on here using I am a Mortgage Adviser signature who indeed are not. Also more and more questions are being asked that could suggest tax evasion, money laundering etc and "advisers" are falling into this "trap" and offering suggestions.

For example, why do u use a signature?

Why bother telling anyone you are an adviser, why do you not just answer a question...........as you cannot offer advice it doesnt matter whether you are a mortgage advisor, chef, accounts clerk, carpenter, retail assistant

Of course it makes a difference, you are offering information from a position of knowledge.

Rather than start the old arguements again (which I accept were before you found this site) read the old threads that discussed this whole issue and came up with the code of conduct.
