Npower prepayment meter
Can anyone tell me where I stand with the following scenario:
I have had an electricity prepayment key meter since March 2008.
A signal was supposed to be sent to the key to increase my amount to £6 a week in July 2008.
This never happened, I only discovered it when I phoned them in December to find out how much I had paid off, they informed me only £6 had been reduced off my debt.
So they sent the signal again and that didn't work.
The final signal they sent was on 27th December and that one finally worked.
So I checked my meter tonight and it shows that in 10 months I have only paid off £6 in 10 months.
So I just phoned them and they told me the signal was successfully sent in July and the person told me that I was told wrongly that the signal hadn't been sent.
I have been told that the last 10 months count for nothing!!!
Is it really my fault that their equipment didn't pick up the signal and do I have a case for them to reduce the amount of the debt I believed that I had paid off because of their error? So I asked the person for the address of the complaints department.
I don't think an apology is really enough, more like fobbing me off

Your best bet would be to speak to someone in complaints or customer relations and try to negotiate a reduction on the debt amount - however, as you have not been financially disadvantaged (i.e. they are only trying to recover arrears owed for energy which you have actually used) they are not obliged to reduce the outstanding amount.0
