Shiplap Cladding

Options
Hi all, I decided to surprise my mum with a new a shed as her old one looks like it has had better days. I demolished the shed ( ;-) ) and set about getting the raw materials for a new one.
When I went down to B & Q I realised they only sell that feathered cladding and not the shiplap one my mum’s original shed had.

I have searched around all the local diy stores with no joy.

Does anyone one where I can find some of this shiplap cladding??

I have never seen a shed made out of this feathered cladding. It looks a bit weak.

Thanks in advance,

G.

wow! it must be a while since you brought a shed!!! :D most sheds i know come made out of that feathered lap boards, its cheap and quick for shed manf'.

if you really want proper lap boards, you need togo to a proper builders merchants or a timber yard and they will cut what you want to your spec, but it will cost you more than one of those off the pegg type of sheds!

    dam it!,

Thanks for that, my mum is going to go nuts!!. I guess I am off on holiday again.

I don't suppose you would know if I can buy black paint for a shed that would also help preserve it as well??,

    Thanks for all your help,

You should be able to get shiplap from most Timber mills, wood or builders merchant. We have at least three locally that sell it in any quantity.

The only issue is it's costs more than feather, hence cheaper sheds don't use it. Much nicer finish though.

Silkens two part is good for waterproofing and finish but costly, they do all sorts of colours, don't know if they do black (yuk?). usually sold same places as the wood.
