IS applied for

Can anyone tell me about how long it takes for IS application to be processed normally. Im getting desperate and finding it difficult to hold of the credit card peeps. I should have a backdated payment for the previous 12 weeks prior to application.:eek:

In an ideal world perhaps. Some benefit delivery centres are completely swamped, every friday afternoon there's a booming industry in claim forms being couriered around the UK to be dealt with on overtime at weekends ... offices in the South seem to be suffering hugely, strangely enough, with application forms being flown to Scotland for processing !

If you've been waiting a wee while you'll need to phone your local centre to establish where they're at with your application. You can request an emergency payment to tide you over while they deal with your application.

sorry but unless I have read that wrong (possible due to baby brain)

but I dont think its backdated to 12 weeks before you applied for it.

then again maybe it is, but I doubt it.

can be backdated 1 month for administrative reasons; or 3 months for other specified reasons (e.g. difficulty in communicating, illness or disability).

I made a claim recently and was told this was how long it would take. I had a decision in the post in approx 1 week and a payment in my account approx 2 weeks. Different areas may obviously differ. I also thought there was a huge change in the benefit shop since I had last been there 14 years ago. I was seen to immediatedly and the bullet proof windows at the desks & outdoor security had gone.

I originally applied in August last year when I handed in my notice. They lost my first application so i had to start again then I got a letter a few weeks later saying all I was getting was £26. They said I was getting working tax credits run on (which I wasn't) so I disputed this. Finally in October I got payment but I was only backdated the 4 weeks to when I got the letter saying I was only getting £26.
It just depends on where you live I think.

.........I am on Incapacity Benefit. so maybe that is why I was quoted 12 weeks....
