Car Finance - PCP

I've have put a non-refunable deposit down on a new car. I have signed a piece of paper for the order of the car.

Since then i have found the same car excatly to what i want for £622 less. Because i havent yet signed anything for the finance is it possible to get the car dealership to lower the list price on the car?

  • It appears you have signed the order form and are committed to purchasing the car at the agreed price - otherwise you risk losing the deposit.

You say the car is £622 cheaper at another dealer but what are the payments quoted on the PCP at that dealership? - thepayments etc may be higher and they may be charging a higher interest rate to earn more finance commission to offset the cheaper car cost?
  • IMO If you have signed the order form but not the finance docs they cannot hold your deposit.....they will be difficult about refunding it but will do eventually

Was the order you signed subject to dealer finance, or were you arranging your own?
  • it was on dealer finance.
  • i seen the car cheaper on a website quoted if buying in cash. i want to buy it from the dealership because i'll have peace of mind then and can have finance through them. it was just someone at work said if i phone them and say ive found it cheaper (the list price) they might reduce the list price or give me some extras to keep me doing the deal with them. the deposit i put down was £500, the difference between the two cars is £622 so theoretically speaking i would still be £122 in pocket if i lost my deposit (e.g. if i said i'll buy it from the other place to the garage).

I would just use the info you have to get some extras from the dealer. If they go for it all well and good. If you go internet it is not always as simple as they make out.
    Good luck.

Just go to them and tell them you are thinking of pulling out. I am pretty sure they will want to save the hassle of too much arguing. Be nice and keep smiling. Ask if they will add on what you want. You have nothing to loose, the worse that can happen is they say no. Do it quick though as some of these bits are factory fitted.
