Do I cancel these cards??

Help! I've paid off my Barclaycard 14.9% (£500) and my Monument 21.37% (£1.5k) with my HSBC 0% BT deal.

I've got 1 problem, I WAS going to cancel them and cut them up... but I'm still getting charged 17% interest on a £1.8k OD I have, so I thought I need to do a SBT. But either cards are suitable, and I can't think of a way round it!! Can you??

I think I'm better getting rid and applying for a SBT with a more suitable card???

Click 'Super BTs' in the blue box above your first post - the cards offering SBT's are listed there.

Cancel the other 2 cards. Depending on your available credit/salary ratio, you might want to wait until these are showing 'settled' on your CRA files before applying for more cards.

Yes.. that's what I was planning to do.. I guess I'll just have to risk (and hope) I get a big enough limit to cover the OD..

1 more thing! I see MINT do SBT! I have a card with them... I just have £700 to pay off, once back to £0.00 do you reckon that would give an existing customer a good deal???

  • Depending on the fees incurred, you could take a cash advance to repay the o/d and then BT that over to hsbc as well.

Could you ask HSBC to increase your credit limit?

I've only just got the card!! I doubt they will!!

Well Mint have not offers for existing customers part from no handling fee on BT. I HAVE cancelled the Barclaycard and Monument. I'm going to use the £700 from Mnt on the£1.8k = £1.1k minus £400 savings = £700 - £500 from my First Direct OD = £200 to find ASAP.. a very long winded plan but should pay off in the long run!
