SkyCard - BarclaysCard Closed My Account

Hi All
I successfully managed to claim back £662.00 charges from my Skycard Credit Card, most of these charges were £12. Had to get Financial Ombudsman involved and Sky card wrote and said they would rather settle than have a formal investigation. Received a letter today to say they had paid my balance of £500 and would be sending me a cheque for the remaining £162.00 . They then added that my account was now CLOSED and my card inactive. No reason just they had closed it...... Has anyone had this happen ???

They (and you) can cancel the card at any time. It's in the T&C's:9.1 Either of us can end the agreement by giving written notice to the other. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we will give you 30 days' notice before we end this agreement.0

So, how many £12.00 charges have you had, since the £12.00 limit was introduced maybe two and a half years ago?
Seriously, you agreed to pay on time and stay within your credit limit. Did you do that?
Be honest, you can’t have been the best organized customer or you were permanently on the edge of financial melt-down.
Maybe a CC is not the right tool for you.0 -
gee thats real helpful ...thanks0

If you have a look at Martin's article on Reclaiming, you'll see that companies often close the accounts after you've reclaimed charges. He recommends opening a 'parachute' account for this reason.DFW Official Nerd Club #1114

Have you considered that they simply don't want customers who may end up as bad debts? All the banks are going to be cherry picking the customers they want. If they are not going to be allowed to ask you to pay for not paying on time then you presumably aren't worth the hassle.0

thats about 55 separate £12 charges for £662, crazy!
Yes they are 100% allowed to do what they have done, look at it one way at least they have cleared a debt for you and given you some spare cash!0 -
