In the Macdonald hotel in Edinburgh we were treated like lepers because we had a heavily discounted deal. I've never forgotten being chased out of the dining room by the head waiter as they wanted payment there and then for the meal we'd just eaten. Something out of Fawlty Towers.

I have only ever stayed at the Aviemore and Loch Rannoch. the staff there are superb as are the facilities. never had a problem.
Personally I would have kicked up such a stink if treated like that , that he / she would be totally embarrased.

Is this offer only available at Avimore does any one know ? It a bit too far for me to travel :)
  • Does anyone know if this includes breakfast?? I can't see it clarified anywhere.

We stayed there last Easter, in the Academy I think (the Inn was closed - lack of demand, not refurb as I first thought!). Room was clean and functional - breakfast was served in the Four Seasons and was excellent. Slightly miffed that for 1 adult and 2 children I'd have to book 2 rooms as they all seem to be twin but £40 a night is still a good deal if it includes breakfast. :D

Edit: Have just phoned them up - the offer is ROOM ONLY and the twins aren't big enough for an extra bed unfortunately.
If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...

    Thanks OP
Barnabee , I`m with skell01 here . If we were ever treated like that by ANY hotel I`d create such a fuss that the head waiter would get his books ! You shouldn`t really accept tosh like that from any hotel employee

  • Its a great complex of 4 hotels we stayed there for 3 nights in Sept £80 per night, really worth it, especially if you ski. Train is probably better to get there at this time of year. There is a train station (aviemore) right at the entrance to the hotel.
