n power ripoff

just got bill from n power and holly s@@@.

i pay reg monthly d.d of 49.00 per month..
as we all know we have had a cold winter so bills will be a bit large..
however from july 2008 to14/1/2009 we used 360.16 gas.
less payments of 285.64
total we owe is 74.52..
ok i can accept that...but they have now stated monthly payment to be increased to...78.00 per month..
what and we are in a recession......
any advice???

We're with N-Power as well and they've tried to do this on every bill I've ever had from them.
Last time they wanted me to increase my payments from £40 to £95/month - I phoned and told them it was absolutely ludicrous to try and increase my payments so much, and they agreed with me! We then came to an amicable compromise, so I now pay £60/month - hoping to reduce this when the better weather comes (if it ever does).
Just ring and tell them you cannot afford to increase your payments to £78 and I'm sure they'll come up with a more agreeable figure.
