Spent that on fags and tattoos.
Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling
  • Only read the first page, but this is shocking. I can't believe any parent aside from Frank Gallagher would want to steal from their own children like this. I am shocked.
  • I just finally finished reading the whole thread.

As a mother this thread really upsets me. :(

this had to be a wind up....i hope for the kids sake it was..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • It does have to be a wind up. Mind you, he/she could be on to something. I'm currently 7.5 months pregnant. How much womb rent should I charge my unborn child??? ;):rotfl:
Debt at LBM (March 2006): £30,000

As a new father i couldn't possibly fathom the thought of stealing my childs money.

I set a savings account up when my GF was pregant and i've been paying into it each month, my financial life is very tough now and im thinking of going Bankrupt but i can honestly say the thought of even using my son's 2k plus to help me out hasn't even entered my mind

To the OP, as horrible as this sounds you don't deserve to be a parent / You need a reality slap.. Charging a 6yr old rent is a fcuking disgrace and YOUR child will end up hating you if she ever found out.

    This thread is absolutley rank
If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred
  • I haven't read the whole thread but has anyone stopped to consider the position this person might be in?

The thought of charging rent is ridiculous, but a loan which would save the family home and keep a roof over the childs head is a different matter isn't it?

I think the wording used was way off the mark here... This is the childs money, end of. BUT if this avoids losing the house, being made homeless, bankruptcy etc... then that is another story.

Sadly I suspect the money is long sonce spent as this thread is about 20 months old now but thisis my thoughts on the issue...

No to rent, yes to saving the home if push comes to shove.

I don't believe it would be legal to charge a six year old rent to live in her family home - parents have an obligation to provide for a child - in this case, the six year old does not even have legal capacity, let alone the ability to understand that her parents want to gain access to her money for their gain via charging her "rent". This would be exploitation of the worst possible kind.......

I agree it seems a bit odd that the OP first started this thread in Jan 2009, then only responded 12 months later with a furthe update. Strange.

And a nasty thing to do to a six year old who has been given money.....

I did not notice, appreciate the time lapse in this thread but my reaction was one of disbelief shock horror that a parent would consider charging their six year old for rent food etc do hope this is a troll
