I took my case to my MP who at least made my gas people talk to me.

I APPRICIATE all the replies i get. and i APOLOGISE if anyone did think i was "snippy" as you put it, there was no need to be sarcastic or "snippy" in your response to me.
Im not shouting at anyone nor being aggressive or sarcastic for that matter.. im extremely emotional and upset ( and very CONFUSSED ) after sitting in the freezing cold for the past month only to discover that they are charging me more when im using less.

I checked my meter is it is metric
glo - £15 a week is a lot cheaper then what they are charging me now... i thought prepayment meters were a rip off ( they charged more? )
Is there a possibility to switch supplier? would they take on the amount i owe BG or would i have to pay that off in full which as it stands now is approx £300.0 -
yes they do charge a little extra for having pre payment but i know im paying for what im using this way but i honestly have seen a difference since havin heating on a low setting all the time fair enough it is not like a sauna in house but it certainly aint like an ice box like it used too be when putting heating on here there and everywhere
P.S i think you might have too pay it off b4 switching i have found this in past but dont quote me on it as all companys differ

I have just had a bill for £600 for my gas for the last three months. Did a few quick calculations and they are, as mentioned above already, converting metric to metric. It's three times what it should be. I am absolutely livid! Someone in customer services will be getting an ear bashing tomorrow.0

Are both your last bills based on actual readings, or was the first one underestimated and the second one playing catch up? Did you leave your heating or hot water on at all whilst you were out of the country? How well insulated is your property? What is your preferred ambient temperature? Have you considered a heated electric underblanket instead of heating the bedroom? As others have posted, you need to check whether the meter readings on the previous invoices were estimated or actual. This may help clear up why the cost appears to have gone up even if you have started using less.
As an example - lets say at the start of your last bill the meter reading was 40, and they ESTIMATED that by the end of the period covered on your last bill your reading was 140, but in reality it was 240.
Your bill would say 100 units, but your actual usage was 200 units.
Now on your latest bill they may have used an actual reading, lets say 340.
Now your usage is only 100 units since last time (less than the previous period). BUT according to the invoices, you have gone from 140 to 340. Thats 200 units. Giving the impression that you have used more even though in reality you have used less.
If you bill was underestimated last time, then this latest invoice could be a catch up.
The best option would be to take regular monthly meter readings, record them and give them to your supplier to make sure you dont get any nasty catch up bills just when you dont want them.
