  • I love it!! Ihave been using it for some months now and the beauty of it is I only have to remember one set of log in details to access all my accounts.

The drawback is the passwords and so on are stored on each individual computer, so I cannot access when away from my own computers.

But I believe the biggest safety feature is that it totally defeats keystroke loggers.

The passwords for my actual accounts are no longer keyed in and so cannot be read by these hackers.

It is very useful to see the balances to all my accounts on the same page, in real time, without me manually updating them.

I have downloaded all my passwords and secure informations onto a disc and have that locked in my safe as a back-up. Maybe I worrry about security too much?

    Thanks eesydozit !!

I like the possibility of viewing / manageing all accounts in one place as you mention above !!!

Howerever, I have concerns about EGG possibly accessing the 'specifics' of the info too ?????

Re the T&C for example ...... they mention things like ........

    - monitoring account activity ( ??? all)
    - creating a profile ( how personal ????)
    - sharing info with other financial insts (what info??)
    - credit reference agents ........

Am I being a bit too suspicious???? It sounds a bit too 'big brotherish' to me ......have I misinterpreted ?????????????

I use it and love it!! As you say.. egg are "tracking" us using it... but I'm willing to accept that for the free tenner I got and the pure convenience of it all! Another method of market research I'm sure!

That's not totally correct because all they would need is crack the access to EMM and they'd be laughing - - however, that only would work on your computer, so as long as you keep your machine well protected, it is true.

I also love EMM, it makes my life much easier. I am not worried about Egg knowing my account balances, or sharing them with other financial institutions. For starters, Egg do not support all banks, and even if they did, they would not know whether I have specified all my accounts. Secondly, most of the information (and more) Egg have is available to financial institutions via the credit agencies, anyway.

Thumbs up for EMM from me!
  • Yes, I use this too. Unfortunatly it does not work with my main account with Virgin One, however cards and even paypal work great. Very quick when you click to view the cards website etc. You also get £10 free credited so it cant be that bad !
Where do I start ! Oh yes Quidco and Slicethepie ....

And for fellow Firefox users, use IETab to get round the activex requirements. I use EMM daily and it's great - just found out you can add your Paypal account into it as well :)

Be aware that some other banks may use EMM as an excuse not to pay out for online fraud.

One bank I was with (Halifax I think) had a clause in their T&Cs that ran something along the lines of (I don't have the T&Cs now):

Do not store your security information in any form, included encrypted, either on your computer or in written form.

Basically - if you used anything that stored the passwords - then you'd, potentially, be liable for fraud. It'd be an easy catch for them "and sir, do you use EMM?" - not to mention the fact that EMM works fast at typing in the info - so looking at the click stream it'd be easy to see you either stored the password in your browser or had some auto typing system (a la EMM).

So - make sure you read your other banks T&Cs very carefully.

  • i signed up using an account i wasn't using, took the tenner and then told them to close it down cos it doesn't work with firefox. they said they can't be arsed to make it work with anything but ie.

i don't think i want egg monitoring my accounts and cards anyway. if you do that's your choice.

Our offset mortgage is with egg & my own savings account, and I use it to access my current accounts. It's great! So easy peasy, and I can transfer money in :j and out:naughty: of my mortgage account really easily.

Guess I'm trusting about motives etc.....
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Hi All,

Anyone else having trouble trying to add account to your 'Payment Address Book' in EMM - I'm trying to send money to my new Alliance and Leicester account and it won't let me add it!

    Cheers
