Is pork luncheon meat the same?

I know this might sound daft, but are pork luncheon meat and Spam the same thing?

My family all like pork luncheon meat in sandwiches and sometimes with egg & chips, so I started to wonder if there was anything else that I could do with it that was a little less boring!
I came across the site for Spam and found some interesting recipies, but as I am trying to keep the food bill down and Spam is a lot dearer than luncheon meat, I wondered if it was the same thing?

:eek: Im with curry queen, horrible stuff. Im sure the spam fritters at school were just luncheon meat so the spam recipes are bound to work. I dont like corned beef either!!! :spam:

I am pretty much of the opinion meat = GOOD!

Spam is ace, just not on sandwiches, but Spam fritters are surely proof there is a god?!

I remember spam fritters at our school - you put your fork in and gallons of grease flooded the plate ....urghhhhh!
