Downturn in TEP market?

I've not been able to find better estimates for my two endowment policies (no longer linked to my mortgage) as the current surrender values from the Life companies (Standard Life and Windsor Life) is higher. In one case (Surrenda-link) have suspended valuations.

The reason I ask is that I may need to cash in these policies as I lost my job 4 months ago and need a plan to meet my outgoings until I can gain employment again. Is the TEP market also in trouble?

Its possible the buyers of the policies are choosing to stay liquid rather than commit to long term plans.
