I dont know about business account specifically but I managed to open a current account with all the works in Lloyds just before and Citibank during.
Edit, no overdraft of course!Debt as at 12th July 2006 - £61,345
Debt free 21st Oct 2011.
All thanks to :money:0 -
Also have had the same trouble. Don't want an overdraft, dont' even need a chequebook or debit card. Just want an account to pay money into and then make transfers to personal account. Was turned down by 3 banks, as I have debt with Natwest, HSBC, Halifax, and Barclays (who seem to be the people that have special accounts for people like us), however I have finally setup an account and received my account number today (WOOHOO!). I opened it with Bath Building Society. They don't do a credit check. They make a query with Equifax only to verify your identity. Sent the forms off and had my account number in 3 days, and it seems they operate under Natwest (who turned me down originally hehe) so at least I know my money is with a highstreet bank still. Needless to say I'm a happy chappy right now so revisitng all the threads I looked at previously so I can hopefully help some other people that are in my situation. It's a very basic bank account that's just good for clients to pay money into and for you to then transfer money to your personal account monthly via BACS, but that's all I need.0

if you have debt with natwest, and you are going into a iva or in a iva, where you not advised to get a bank account with a bank that you did not owe money too, because as far as i can tell, if they know its you and you owe them money, they could take money out of your account to pay the debtTake every day as it comes!!0 -
I imagine their link with Natwest is as a customer -- using Natwest as their clearing bank. Many Building Societies use banks to move their funds, but have no other business relationship.0
