Advice re compensation claim

Wasnt sure quite where to post so hope this is ok

I had food posiening from a restaurant this was confimed by Enviromental Health I was very ill and was off work for a week, the first time Id been off sick for 2 years.

Ive written to the restaurant myself rather than having to go through a claims company. I have had a reponce back from their Public Liabilitys Insurer asking for my NI number so they can notify the Compensation Recovery Unit, I currently work so dont think this will affect me.

My question is has anybody any idea what level of compensation I should expect from the company, what lenght of time should I expect for this to be resolved

advice appreciated

  • wary about giving out NI number- residence and tax staus etc shouldnt matter- follow up with a harder request ('lost' earnings, discomforst etc), and copy in env healh etc..

You do have to give NI for personal injury claims and food poisoning is classed as a personal injury claim.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

if you claim and on benefits . the time you where ill ,they will take the money off benefit ! ie pay back money time you where sick . you need to get advice from CAB or solicitors. im making a claim going back 3 years and all the benefit i have received will have to be paid back , so asking extra cash to do so , leaving not much for me . so some times not a good thing to do , but thats law ....well i know what i think ...
the truth is out there ... on these pages !!

  • I was working at the time I was ill do this shouldnt affect my claim. I didnt really want to use a personal injury firm. I have copies of my positive test results for Salmonella from Enviromental Health, who are preparing a case to prosecute the restaurant

You don't need to go to a "personal injury firm". Just find a local solicitor in the phonebook, who will be able to advise you properly.
