Not every datawrite titanium DVD use the same dye. DVD-R 8x use CMC MAG AE1 which itself can vary in quality and not considered a top end dye. The printable DVD-R 16x(from svp.co.uk) use MCC R3G02 which is regarded as a quality dye and I can't fault them. Know what you're buying and it should give you less grief.

* Media websites list the ID codes for their disks, because people choose a disk not just on brand but also what dye is used.0 -
What do i need to record a film onto a dvd. Will it be dvd-r? or wil it be dvd+r?
Thanks**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
depends on your dvd player
i've stuck to dvd-r
i've never had a problem.......i've always used imation disks and found them to be excellent every time0 -
I use dvd+r in my stand alond dvd recorder, and dvd-r in my computer dvd burner - both are just as good and never had a prob with either (touch wood)......Everyone has a photographic memory, it's just some of them don't have film.0

On my NEC 3540, they only recorded well with 1.03 firmware (using CDSpeed to scan)

AM2??? Can't seem to find information on that dye....I say what I like, I like what I say!0 -
if you go to http://www.dvdhs.com/ you can check compatability of the discs with your dvd drive and also if you have the latest firmware for your driver.0

Thanks Dave,
The disks Datawrite Titanium Disks are the printable version purchased from SVP. I don't understand the meaning of the different dyes, just that my DVD player (not a good one, a Deccavision, don't ask) won't play them at all but my dad's sony will. These Sony from B&Q give the best performance I've seen, my previous Samsung worked OK but I had a number of disk skips.0
