Equifax credit report has no data, despite loads of debt

Hi,

I recently applied for my Equifax £2 credit report, as I'd been turned down for a loan application (Zopa).

I applied for all 3 credit reports a year ago. Experian and CallCredit both returned loads of data on credit I had, but Equifax had none then again.

I didn't think anything of it at the time, as I thought maybe none of the banks I used used Equifax. However, this time I read this article:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/credit-reference

On that list, I've had a mortgage with the Halifax, a loan with LloydsTSB and credit cards with Egg, Halifax, LloydsTSB, MBNA and RBS! I would have thought at least one would have sent data to Equifax

They don't even show a credit search for the loan I was declined, although maybe that was too recent.

While it's not a big issue, it's annoying to get turned down for credit just because they don't have any data on me. Would Equifax be hoping I spend money on a more expensive report? It's not as if my address or name should cause them any problems, as they're fairly unusual. I know you can complain about incorrect data on a report, but can you complain about lack of data?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

The £2 report will show the same info as one of their most expensive products will show. It seems odd though that nothing is showing up. Is your address listed properly? Nothing was showing on my Experian report a while back because my address was not listed correctly. Once this was rectified everything appeared.

The address seems to be ok.

I often have variations on the first line i.e. "Flat 0/1", "Flat 01", "0/1" etc, but this has never been a problem with any other systems. It would seem a bit odd that they can't cope with these small differences?

It could just be that they do not report to Equifax and only to Experian. Odd but you could query it with the credit companies themselves.
  • I have several of the cards you mention and they appear on my Equifax record, so I'd suggest its a problems with the identifying you. Maybe they have your address wrong, or can't identify you for some other reason. Do they have you recorded as on the electoral register (assuming you are...).

But, in essence, you need to contact them and ask. Start with a phonecall to Equifax and see what they suggest.
