I've known people (in Scotland) with gluten intolerance be 'prescribed' gluten-free foods which would be collected at the chemist at no cost. I'd ask a doctor or pharmacist or ask the British Dietetic Society.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

prescriptions for special food are different because the person with the conditon can't eat the normal food. In this case calcium tablets are prescribed so prescription milk isn't actually necessary.0

Don't think so, you used to be able to take the vouchers along to the child health clinic and exchange them for a tin of formula milk, or we used to see certain parents buying their cans of special brew with it in local mini market.
A small tin doesnt last all week though.0 -

What a silly comment to make-do you even have children??
Some people cant breast feed
Some people dont produce enough milk if any at all
Some babies dont want to breast feed
Some people are on medication which means they cant breastfeed cause the medication is then passed on the baby
Some women have a phobia of breast feeding
the list goes on and on....:rolleyes:Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -

Well...to answer both you are the other poster together.....
I dont see how my comment is 'silly'. I said that the government shouldnt pay for formulae milk.....and stand by that.
I didnt critisise anyones choices. I am not stupid. Of course I know that some people cant or some people shouldnt breatfeed. But how does the goverment know that it isnt just choice?
If there were to bring in a payment for ALL formulae milk then they may as well just give a payment to EVERY new mother. Oh.....hang on, they do...in the form of milk tokens (or whatever there new name is)
But the govenment cant just throw money out willy nilly, they have to cap it. So it is limited to one small tin. If a mother wants to use formulae any more than that, whether it be because they want to , or because they cant breatfeed, then they have to pay for it themselves.
You reeled off reasons why women use formulae as though I was born backwards! The reasons WHY werent even part of my comment.0
