Vietnam to Cambodia

Does anyone know the best and cheapest way to travel from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Siem Reap, Cambodia?
Also from Siem Reap to Bangkok?

Thanks,

Lotto

is there a cheap company to fly with? I've looked at Bangkok Air but they don't seem to go from HCMC to Siem Reap.
  • I'm planning on doing the same trip in April (HCM to Siem Reap) and the bad news is that there are currently no cheap flights on the route.

It is currently almost exclusively served by Vietnam Airlines, so they have bumped up prices as they no longer have any competition.

It was previously served by Siem Reap Air, which was basically Bangkok Air, but based in Siem Reap. Sadly due to some very bizarre EU meddling, they have had to stop flying. Until an EU embargo on all Cambodian airlines is lifted, flights are suspended. (It is a long story, but as the planes are registered in Thailand by Bangkok Air and confirm to international standards, it really is a very bizarre situation)

The only other hope is that Jetstar Pacific commence flights on the route. Jetstar Pacific is owned by Qantas and based in Vietnam. They announced that they were starting flights in December, but due to late delivery of new planes they haven't yet started the route and a revised start date hasn't been announced.

Depending on when you want to fly, you can either stump up a chunky fare to Vietnam Airlines, or bide your time and hope that either Jetstar start up, or Siem Reap Air resume flying.

Thanks, I'm going at the beginning of April. Think I'll wait for a couple of weeks then to see if JetStar start up.
