in Credit cards
I paid my credit card off in full October 08. The card company sent me a statement with a balance still outstanding. They say it's the payment protection insurance that had just become due. I disputed it and asked for a copy of the letter asking me if I wanted it. No letter copy letter but a letter saying they confirm that a notification was sent. Lots of phone calls and letters follow but get no where. Decided to pay just to be shut of them but today statement arrived saying the balance is outstanding plus a £5 late payment charge. I have a letter dated 11th December acknowledging my complaint and stating they will reply within 21 days. Still nothing. Help please.

You need to cancel your payment protection plan separately. The payment protection is usually provided by a third party insurance company with who you will have a policy. They will have instructions for them to take policy payments from your credit card. You need to contact the insurance copmany to cancel this policy. It will not be cancelled automatically when you close your credit card account.0
