JP Morgan boss just lashed out 11.5 million $ on company stock, maybe we are reaching a turning point.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

I am quite certain that the big banks will contniue to trade.
Think about all the major institutions who have big stakes in them and the leverage and influence they have?
I'd say that RBS is so cheap that it is definately worth a small investor chucking a few hundred quid at it.0 -

That's one strategy for pushing your own shares higher so that everyone then starts buying them as fake confidence returns - then you can get your massive bonus as your business will be valued higher despite mediocre performance. You can then retire, sell your shares and be no worse off (in fact considerably better off), letting the remaining investors foot the bill...
Don't think there's no ulterior motive behind it in this kind of climate!!0 -

Rather him than me, that's all I will say!0 -
I’m relatively new to buying and selling shares so any help/comment on the following would be gratefully appreciated:
Basically, what are the best free sites I can use to make an informed decision on which bank to invest in. And what’s everyone view on investing in Banks in the very near future.
This is not a bad site for individual stocks, just look for Barclays, RBS etc, tends to be populated by shareholders and employees.

I've got RBS and Lloyds. What their worth now aint worth selling for altho I bought them for the long term gambling that they will survive and rise at some point. Was thinking 3 years at the time, but may be longer. Until they admit everything (which should be now as the government have a majority) there wont be any stability.
Entire investments down about 40% (in 4 months LOL).
But it was money I was willing to lose, otherwise I wouldnt have invested. Sure, it makes me sick and the plan wasnt to throw it away but hey, live and learn. I'd only have bought another motorbike or "project" to lie in the drive. Wasted it on a holiday or squandered it somewhere else.0 -
You're not alone scotsman and take some comfort its not just limited to banks. My non financial portfolio is currently £4k under my original investment.0

That's about time to invest in banks, why would anybody with any clue about investing want to invest in a sector that is being decimated? Fools and their money.
These "Ooooh is it time to buy banks yet " should be grouped together under a thread called "Anatomy of the pauper." Clearly Britain is high on money, high on gamblers, low on IQ.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
"Never in the history of the world has there been a situation so bad that the government can't make it worse." Unknown0 -
Here is the most optimistic view Ive seen in print so far, recentlythe indiscriminate markdown of all UK banking shares may well have been a hasty step too far.
US economy is the first to show signs of recovery in the second half of this year0
