Hiya,
Im a student and have had to defer from my course for academic reasons for 3 months, and am now struggling financially to cope.
Since leaving the course my bursary has been stopped and have had to pay a large amount back to them. Also I found out that i am not eligable for my universities student hardship fund because i defered for academic reasons, and the fact paid employment should cover what i lost in the monthly bursary. I am currently looking at paid employment, but do have much experience and live in leeds, where currently lots of ppl are being made redundent so is proving difficult.
Just want to know if anyone has any suggestions of grants, loans, how i can go about getting a job, so that i can live for the next 3 months
cos my overdraft wont cover it!!!

If you still have access to your uni careers office then you could ask them to check your CV and covering letters over. Also they might have some jobs being advertised that are suitable for students. Register with a recruitment agency too. As you say many people are having a difficult time employment-wise at the moment, you just have to not be picky what kind of jobs you're prepared to do.0

try selling stuff you dont use anymore?
or get out there and apply EVERYWHERE even places yu dnt want to work.. they generally pay more and yur not reli in a position to turn your nose up!
fast food chains tend to always be hiring.. just get your head down and do the work and real in the wages and if you dont like it, hand your notice in when yu go back into education!

Depends how picky a person is when it comes to a job. Best bet is to go into supermarkets and see if they are hiring, check fast food places like KFC, McDonalds, Chip shops etc. Admitted its not the best work out there but it will tide you over for 3 years.0 -
Dominos sales have still risen 18% over the last year. Try getting a job there? Its fun, pays okish, not great, but then again you don't do much.0

Not surprising a fast food retailer increasing in sales. A lot of my uni mates use Dominos and fast food places regularly as they are too lazy to cook. Talk about healthy life styles.
Still I can't imagine I'd ever take up a job as a delivery boy. Yes, picky, but I just can't stand scooters. Wouldn't mind making them or working in the actual shop, but not the delivery part. I'd get lost. lol0 -
I just did telephone + manager stuff. Not delivery.
Delivery you can use your own car. But I don't think I would want that either!0 -

Talk about being short of money! It amazes me how many students seem to find the cash for life's little luxuries if they're all so skint!0
