Am I being overcharged?
after watching the report on BBC watchdog about gas meters and the possibility that many people are being overcharged for gas (http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/consumer_advice/latest_meters_pic.shtml)
i checked my gas meter and clearly it is imperial (not metric)...then i checked my bill and i found figures for volume correction factor and calorific value but none for metric conversion factor....i am a bit confused now...Am I being over or under charged for the last 5 years?...any help please:(

Look at the meter units on a bill. Then look at the kwh charged. For an imperial meter, the kwh should be roughly 31 times the units - eg 100 meter units will be approx 3100kwh.0

If you have an old imperial meter, then the calculation should include the metric conversion factor. Without it, you've only been charged about 1/3 of what you should have been.
Wow think how much you've saved over the last 5 years, and maybe the next 15 years too if you don't tell them.
(they might try and claw back 1 year's worth, if/when they discover the error though, so stick some money in a nice cash ISA just in case)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
