DA on first move

We have just moved into our first MQ and I was wondering if I can claim the monster DA for moving from SLA?
I can't remember how much it is (I think nearly £1k - a lot more than the 80 quid as a singly) and it would make the whole moving in process a lot cheaper with regards to phones, t'interweb etc.
Cheers for any advice,
OOTD

your not entitled to DA on first or last move0

I don't think that is necessarily true about your last move. You might need to check it out, but doesn't it depend on rank and whether you got your choice of last posting.0

I would check JSP 752 Chapt 7 Section 1 for your first move as to me its a bit ambiguous.
For your last move, yu need to check out JSP 752 Chapt 7 Section 4, Final Tour of Duty. Gives you all you need.0 -

No it isn't. It clearly states that you cannot claim for your first move into MQs...{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -

Would it be different if moving from SLA into SFA though? I'm not an admin sort, so haven't got the gen.
If some people are getting it, and some aren't - then it looks like there is a grey area. Or that some people in the admin trade are letting some slip through.0 -
i was a pay clerk civvy mind you for the army back in the day when everything was done in house with papers not relying on a computer, (jpa)
i keep up with the regs as much as possible cause i know how they can scam you if they think they dont need to pay out but had someone check for us aswell and nope, if you just got married and its your first move no DA0 -
To qoute from the JSPMid-assignment Moves. DA is only payable for mid-assignment
moves where the move of accommodation is for Service, compassionate, welfare or
medical reasons or where the Service person’s accommodation entitlement changes
(other than as a result of first setting up home). Mid-assignment moves for other
personal reasons and for operational deployments do not give an entitlement to DA.
You are not entitled to DA for your first move into FMQ.
The confusion is caused by the fact that when the JSP 752 was first published the bold bit was not in it. This allowed some people (myself included) to take advantage of this loophole. However it has now been closed. Some people may still be getting it as thier clerks are unaware that the loopholw has closed. However if they get audited independtely (10% annually) and it comes to light that they weren't entitled they will be paying it back.
Remember under JPA it is YOUR responsibilty to ensure you are entitled to make a claim, not your admin staff.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0 -
My husband was posted overseas in 2006 and we moved from our own house into SFA, I think because is was a posting/drafting DA was allowed.0
