Thanks button..... Unthanking?

Quick question please!

Reading through older threads on the site, I have noticed at times that under a post it says :

'Thanked by the following 1 users...'

Why the plural on older threads? Have other thankers returned later to the thread to 'unthank'?

Can you remove thanks?

Usually just means that only one person's thanked that post, but the vBulletin software doesn't do the extra work to get the text grammatically correct.

And no, you can't remove thanks, in fact they even stay in the user's profile to the left of their posts if they delete a post / their post is deleted!

Thus you might get a new user with a post count of 1, but thanked 3 times in 3 posts, for example.

Thanks for replying. Do you mean threads over/ unread for 'x' many months old are run on a slightly different software version than new/ active threads? That would explain it.

Not quite - I don't think any version of the vBulletin software has ever got the 'Thanked by the following x users...' text grammatically correct (although it wouldn't be too difficult for the developers to fix it so that it does).

I dont mean to keep on but I'm afraid that explanation (as I understand it) still doesnt satisfy my curiosity!

The newer threads (eg above) where there is only one thanks never show it in this way, it is always displayed correctly.

I did wonder if it was the case in these older threads that other members (or at least one other) had thanked, but were no longer a registered member- and so their 'thanks' was removed for that reason, but the plural remained. However, unless an account is deactivated after a certain amount of time unused (which I don't believe is the case here), that would mean a fair amount of members being banned!

As I said, sorry to keep on, I am aware there are certainly more important issues to be thinking about at the present time but I'm one of those irritating people which HAS TO KNOW! lol.
