Posted in the balance transfer thread earlier, but not had any responses, so thought it might be better to post here (sorry mods for duplicating - I wasn't sure what's best to do).
OH has just applied for a Tesco credit card to transfer balances (I think he has £5k - £7k of c/card debt) - and has been declined, despite very good credit history (BTW I know this is no longer the only criteria that applications are judged anymore). I think that it's because Tesco is owned by RBS Group. He already has a RBS credit card, a Mint Credit card (both RBS, I think) and also a Virgin (not RBS).
He doesn't want to make lots of applications in case it adversely affects his credit file. Can anyone confirm whether this is the case?
And, any recommendations on what's best to do?

The size of the debt will also have something to do with it. ATM there are plenty of card issuers declining balance transfers."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
Tesco Personal Finance was a joint venture with RBS, but Tesco recently bought out RBS stake in TPF0

Tesco is no longer part of the rbs Group0

Might be worth checking to see if he can transfer the balances between existing cards if they'e offering 0% for balance transfers... maybe (rather than apply for more)? Hmmm... will need to check this out at the weekend, I think...Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
