Electric showers

Hi there, I am looking to get an electric shower installed, it is looking more expensive than anticipated due to needing a new circuit board etc which is a pain but unavoidable - darn regulations!
Anyway our plumber had recommended the following three showers:
Triton T80xr 10.5kw (white/chrome)……….£145 + Vat
Mira Sport 10.8kw (white/chrome)…………£272 + Vat
Aqualisa Quartz 10.5kw (graphite)…… …...£230 + Vat (chrome is £212 + Vat)
We had been intending to go for the Mira Sport which had been recommended by a few people, and I know Mira are a reliable brand, and that it is possible to get spares from them for many years. However it is the most expensive option and we could save money by going for one of the other options.
So I'd be interested to hear comments on the three recommended showers especially regarding efficiency, longevity reliability etc
Thanks

We've been in our present house for 14 years and installed a Triton electric shower soon after moving in. Still going strong, absolutely no problems whatsoever. I think it's 9.5kw with a dial from 1-12 to alter the temperature and a stop/start button.
We also had a Triton in the previous house, it had been there 9 years when we left with no problems either.
I am moving soon and would be happy to choose Triton again.0 -
I got a Mira Vie from the link below, my mrs is a sparky and they can't get them for these prices at trade, was delivered in 2 days.
Hope this helps?

We have a Triton electric shower which we have had for some years now. When we first had it installed we had a problem - it kept cutting out. It turned out that the water pressure was lowish in our area, even via the tank in the roof, and the pump we bought from Wickes was less powerful than it said on the label and not powerful enough for the shower. We sorted it by installing a replacement pump. Worth checking.0

Hi,
I'm having my electric shower replaced, as my old New Team 9.5Kw's packed in. I was told by the repair man, that i would need an 8.5-9 shower to replace it. any shower will do. the only thing that he needs to do is to alter the piping. I've been reading that people here recommend triton or Mira. I've seen some showers of these brands which have a chrome finish, and am fond of it. Is there a disadvantage if i choose a chrome or any kind of finsh (e.g., seen also glass) and not the standard white finish ?
BTW, he said he will install it for £80. is this fair enough?
thanks in advance.0 -
any comments please?
thanks..would a chrome finish be susceptible to rust ?0 -
No chrome does not rust, its usually the metal underneath the chrome that goes rusty. Since the shower casing is plastic it shouldn't be a problem.0
