Job Decision Please Help

Hi I am in the Great position of being offered Two jobs after deciding that my own business cannot support us no more.
The problem is One job is £19k a year but will have to pay around £70 a week in Fuel excluding wear & tear on my car but is the better job and the other is £13.5k a year with company car and Fuel card, The problem I face is that we currently get £800 a month WFTC and when looking on Entitled to I seem to be worse off taking the Higher paid job without taking the fuel into consideration than taking the lesser paid job Could this be Right !!? We currently have 3 children and my wife doesnt work.
Any Help to clarify that I am worse off taking a better job would be Brill!!

Putting money aside. Which job would you be happier in? You will be there for over a third of your day so you have to enjoy it. Look to the future can you see yourself in 10 years time doing the same job.
Make your decision based on your happiness. It's great having a well paid job but if you don't like it and it makes you unhappy and ill then it's a bad decision.0 -
Good Advice, However both jobs appeal to me and are similar roles however knowing if I am going to be worse of is my main concern on something that pays better than something that doesnt sounds crazy but arent all benefits at the moment!we all have bills to pay Unfortunately!
Thanks again0 -
On the lower paid job you would still get a good chunk of tax credits for 3 children. and saving yorself a lot of car expense.
But as above said you need to feel happier with the one you choose.0 -
Plus your benefits will change depending on the age of your children. If you have a child under 1 then the credit will drop, if you have any reaching 16 then the benefit will drop.
I think tax credits are affected by company cars as well. Because I think it is still classed as an income but hopefully someone else can confirm this for you.
If you took the higher paid one, you may find you could car share so travel costs would be reduced.
It's swings and roundabouts and only you and your family can decide for you.0 -
If when you say one job is "better" you mean better prospects and career development, then that's the one to go for. We all have bills to pay but your career is likely to be for another 30 odd years (making a guess at your age) which would mean that going for an extra couple of quid now could be a very short sighted attitude.0

Yes Better in the way I would have more control in certain areas as far as prospects neither have great promotion opportunities but about the same stability in these uncertain times.
