I take it you have just lost your job, sorry if that is true.
There is an old joke among economists that states: A recession is when your neighbour loses his job.
A depression is when you lose your job.
or to bring it up to date:
A downturn is when your neighbour loses his job.
A recession is when you lose your job.
A depression is when your wife loses her job.0 -

On a bit of an adrenalin trip I suspect. One desperate ssituation after another with more to come. The day of reckoning will come eventually and they will have time to repent (or more probably not) at leisure.
feel quite sorry for Alistair tbh, dropped in well above head level. He has done alright tbh for a guy that frankly doesnt have a clue.
I would pay good money though to watch Gordon the exact moment the penny drops how much dwang HE has got us in through lax regulation of the FSA.0 -
I'll admit I'm used to a certain standard of living and losing it all does scare me.
I know I could be in fear for my life in many countries around the world but that doesn't mean I shouldn't worry about the stuff that can affect me.
I care about the quality of life of my family and myself. Losing all our savings and income would have a massive effect on everything we do, for a start we'd have to reconsider the number of children we want in the future as well as can we afford operations for our pets when they're ill.
Money is not the most important thing in life but pretending it doesn't terrify you to lose everything seems ridiculous to me (unless I had nothing to lose)0 -
Not terrified but extremely defensive, annoyed at the policies of an arrogant, self righteous and incompetant leader who was happy to let this happen. And for those who are not concerned in the least...
It hasn't even begun yet.

Not for their job?
But for britain? and our general future? Anyone think we are being royally shafted by our fiscal policy? and its not a house price crash we are seeing but a currency crash of epic proportions... our currency is crashing more than house prices!
It's precisely this train of thought which is adding significant fuel to the recessionary fire. Fear is a very powerful emotion, but usually we have nothing to fear, but fear itself. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Besides, what is the point in worrying about something you have absolutely no control over ?0 -
What fascinates me is that when we get through all this, we will hear the stories of those who made billions on the back of the recession - if only we all had that insight right now.0

Blimey, what a set of soundbites. But seriously, if you have dependents then that adds to the fear factor. Yeah I'm tough and don't care what life throws at me (yeah right), but I do care what life throws at my family. So its a worrying time if you are responsible for more than just yourself. It's precisely this train of thought which is adding significant fuel to the recessionary fire. I must admit the fear comes and goes, yesterday good, today bad - maybe some happy pills would be a temporary answer.0 -
Oh neas.....I just quickly clicked onto the link....may read a bit of it later.....If I can bear it.
You need to go and get a book on fluffy, cute kittens or something to quietly leaf through whilst drinking a calming herbal tea.;)
The internet is a great resource.....but you could drive yourself crazy reading all the different theories on this and that.0
