Car Insurance Claim - help please.

Just need some advice really. On Boxing Day my husband's car was parked at a local shopping outlet while we were shopping. We returned to the car to find an elderly lady had decided to park in the space next to his car but had unfortunately hit my husband's car. Luckily for us she hadn't driven off - I don't think she could of as she had to have help moving her car. Details were swapped and a witness gave my husband his name. My husband's car is in the process of being repaired. Today received a letter saying the other driver has not notified her insurance company. I've rung her today just to try and find out what's happening. I'm a bit confused as she says when she rung her insurance company they didn't take any details from her - the damage to her car was considerable. It sounds a bit odd to me. My husband is fully comprehensive with protected no claims. Will he have to pay his excess even though the accident wasn't his fault. Could do without having to lay this money out. Thanks and sorry the post is so long.
