Advice needed about some shares

Options
Hello everyone

I have been a lurker for a while now but decided it's time i posted as you are all so helpful and such nice people.

I have been sorting out my financial situation and realised that I had some shares that i had forgotten about :j They are Psion bought about 5 years ago woth only £50 now (I lost about £450 :o ). I also have 100 shares in Premier oil whicis doing very well; i thyink I've made about3 or 4 times my initial outlay which was £250 :j I also have about £4000 of Halifax shares.

I dont need the money desperately but wonder whether I should sell and make a profit and put it towards my pension.

Any advice would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Fiona

    Hello, Fiona,

Normally it is for an investor to decide whether or not to sell shares. Please don't just take a stranger's advice, no matter how well intentioned! Having said that, if you have no interest in following your investments and adding to them it's probably a good idea to sell them. Holding shares in just three companies leaves you very exposed.

Thanks Deemy for your advice. Cheerfulcat I will consider watching these shares for a while and then decide what to do.

    Many thanks to you both

Fiona, you can find out more and even discuss your shares at TMF. There are dedicated boards for Psion, Premier Oil and HBOS. Premier is also discussed on the Oil and Gas - Companies board.

    INVESTMENTS, SHARES ADVICE

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: Sorry, advice on investments, shares and other risk-based products is not what this site is about. This site is not FSA-regulated and so we’ve had to remove a post/thread directing people to specific investments. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Yeh your best off at motleyfool.co.uk about any discussions on the stock market ... since this sites a bit paranoid at the slightest mention of stocks and shares :p

    :D

Perhaps some board guides get a bit carried away ?
