Want to pay Cash?

Hello
I'm trying to renew my car insurance but having had my card used by somebody else (twice) previously I don't want to use it online or over the phone. I keep asking quoters to send me the paperwork to set up the appropriate DD with my bank but apparently 'that's not done these days'.

Does anybody have any idea where I can get a decent insurance quote and set up a DD through the old fashioned medium of phone call's and paperwork?

Twice bitten forever shy!!!!

Thanks
Sue.

I believe Direct Line operate quite a successful telephone-based insurance outfit.

I believe most can set up a DD over the phone (without the paperwork).
All you should need to give is the sort code, account no and account name - same as the info on a cheque.

Would that meet your requirements? No need to give the card number out.
  • Thanks for your help Mattymoo but I only have a debit card and the details you suggest were enough for someone to gain access to my account. Don't know how they got to it but I am reluctant to do it again. There is a saying about the criminal mind being more intelligent than the detective.

All I want to do is to be able to get a quote, get the paperwork and go to my bank to set it up.....too much to ask?

Insurance brokers? They tend to do their own payment schemes and sometimes the cancellation terms can be pretty onerous. They might be able to comply with your wishes though.

Perhaps the best solution is to visit a local insurance broker in your area ?

You could then deal face to face, rather than vis phone or internet.
