I received a PCN a few months ago for parking on a car park at college for which you needed permit. I thought you only needed a permit for daytime use and as I attended after 6pm i didnt think twice about parking there. There are some small signs around the place but I never really noticed them.
I got a PCN from a PPC (PCN (NW) Ltd) which I ignored, until they sent the invoice to me. I replied asking them to send evidence of who was driving the vehicle. I heard nothing for 3 months, and then today i got a letter from Midas Legal Services. It states it is a Litigation Warning and that because I have failed to reach a repayment agreement with Moorcroft Debt Recovery Ltd - whom I have NEVER been contacted by! that they "have been asked to prepare a file for review prior to the commencement of any legal action.". They are demanding payment before 24/01, and I only received the letter on 20/01 !
What should my next action be? I have NEVER been contacted by Moorcroft Debt Recovery previously. They have never proved who the driver was.
I do not want to give these daylight robbers the £140 they are demanding.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Your next action should be to file their letter in a drawer, and forget about it. They will probably send you a final warning, and then a final last warning - maybe with red lettering. What should my next action be?
This is all part of the scare tactics that PPCs use, but if you don't play the game they will go away and try it on with someone else.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. Hi Faldinio
I've moved your post out of the discussion thread into its own topic
Unless they've taken you to court (that would be an achievement in itself!), you've lost the case and still not paid, there simply is no 'debt' and this is just another intimidating letter from the cowboys. Safe to ignore.
The only correspondence to take notice of is that from a Court. It's doubtful that will materialise.

Thanks for the good and quick advice guys.
I just didnt want bailiffs knocking on the door, especially as the address they have is my mother's address because I registered the car there some time ago, but I no longer live at that address, all my mail goes there so I just left it as that address (an aside - anyone know if I am OK to do that or not?)
Cheers and I'll keep you posted on their 'demands'.0 -
You must notify the DVLA of your current address, and get the car registered there - you could be in big trouble otherwise. Thanks for the good and quick advice guys.

Bailiffs can only be involved IF the PPC takes you to court, AND you lose the case, AND you fail to pay the judgement within 28 days. You've got more chance of winning the lottery this week.

Is it possible we can see the letter from Midas? Or can you let us know their details? I'm quite interested.
It seems they are one and the same as Moorcroft.0 -
Hi guys,
I didnt get a chance to scan the original letter from Midas but I did receive a letter from Moorcroft recently which I have attached. I have just ignored it because it seems like the same kind of letter that Midas sent last time. "Pay up or else" kind of thing.
Let me know your thoughts

So, Midas tell you the next step is Court, then you get another letter from Moorcroft? Hmm.
Please can you either post up the letter from Midas, or PM me their details. I am interested to know who this legal firm is. Am I right in thinking they operate from the same address as Moorcroft? I see Moorcroft refer to their solicitors. I wonder if they mean Midas? Midas are not listed on the Law Society website.
Bit more digging - they are MLS Solicitors. Is your letter signed off M Dobson?
Thanks.0 -
Hi Sarah,
I've gone and left the Midas letter at home... I'll post it tonight.

Hi Sarah,
Yeah the letter is signed by M Dobson. I have uploaded it now so you can take a look. Bear in mind I received this first before I'd even heard from anyone since the initial "invoice".
