Just received an email supposedly from Dell, telling me I've been billed for a camera to the tune of nearly 700 euros.
Has anyone else received one of these. Please help, as I use several credit cards, unsure as to which one it may have been billed to if this is genuine. Thanks for any info.
Tells me to click on the link, but I haven't
Email I received is as follows -
Thank you for shopping with us.
Your order # 69765 Panasonic RX-F18 8.0 MP Digital Camera has been accepted for the amount 697.00 Euros.
Your card will be charged in that amount.
Thank you for your purchase.
You can check the order in your profile.
deleted the link which was here.
Thank you.

Haven't had one from "Dell" (yet), but have had several similar. If it's a scammy one, likely that they (a) haven't mentioned your name and address, and (b) which credit card and/or part of the number. Can you check your card(s) on-line?
Not clicking the link was a good move..0 -
I checked the properties and it was some obscure email address that it had come from. No mention of card details etc on it either. First I'd received of these, received loads of bank ones. Called my c/c company just to let them know and the guy just confirmed what I was thinking. Garbage, delete etc. Thanks for taking the time to reply.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Yes I got 2 from Dell this morning, gave me a fright at first but they had gone into my Spam folder and with receiving 2 thought they were probably scam e mails.0

Just to clarify things a little - these emails normally arrive as a 'confirmation of sale' or similar, the only way you'd know whether your card has been charged would be to check by phone or on-line or wait up to 4 weeks for the statement. Obvious intent is that you click through to their 'online shop' and enter some personal details so they can rip you off later.
Personally I wouldn't bother checking unless there was some name/address/card detail in the message, but if you have any doubts you're better off checking with the card company than biting your nails until the statement turns up.
ps - they've obviously marked you down as a rich techie, I've only had 'sales' of watches and perfume for £100 or so...0 -
Thanks for your replies. I have contacted the CC company as mentioned above. Chap I spoke to confirmed my suspicions that it's just garbage. When I checked properties etc it's just a junk email address, nothing mentioned about Dell etc and I've not been near their site so no I haven't bought any cameras etc etc.
It just  me out a bit as I've never received emails like these before. Plenty bank ones requesting info but nothing like this.
As for being a rich techie... I wish.

Hi smiley mum
I received the same e-mail as you, if you read it it also states that you bought the camera for 697 pounds but a few lines down it says 697 euros!!
I just deleted it but it did freak me out  a little because my first thought was "I haven't bought anything from dell!" but then came down from the ceiling and read it again!0
